People are peeling back the boardings on burnt down buildings. They hide in them awaiting for cops to come. When the police come, out of nowhere, the people jump out and start attacking the police showing their true colors
.There have been people taunting police saying things like, “Hands up, don’t shoot,” or just really inappropriate names in general just eating away at a cop’s patience. Megan Lindzy’s dad has been called some racist or inappropriate names when he’s just doing his job. “He comes home and almost every time he is frustrated with something that happened while he was working,” Megan complains and also states, “He has been attacked while standing on ice from behind. He has also been in a fight against three people, so it was 3 VS 1 and many other fights from people that don’t like him. Whenever he tells us about it, I’m so grateful that he even came home.”
On the other hand, there are some cops that discriminate people. Those cops profile them, arrest them for no reason, conduct drug searches for no apparent reason and accuse people of stealing the car they are driving. Profiling is when a cop discriminates a person based on their race, gender, or ethnicity and is illegal. There are some cops that have to conduct random drug searches in cars, but some cops only do it for Muslims, blacks, or Asians. Not all cops are like this though. Take the cop involved in Ferguson for example, Michael Brown charged the cop and the cop defended himself as he was trained to do. Cops are trained to still perform their job even if they are seriously injured and/or dying to keep the people safe. If they don’t they are breaking the law and didn’t do what they are paid to do: Protect the people.
People in Ms. Crain’s class on October 2nd wrote a blog about how police should stop pulling people over for the littlest things and start dealing with the major crimes. Cops are supposed to pull people over that are speeding or even slightly breaking the law because if they don’t, they are breaking the law themselves. Even if you are slightly going over the speed limit, you still run the risk of injuring a pedestrian. Therefore, people should not discriminate cops because cops are the people keeping them safe. Cops risk their lives everyday, just to get discriminated against. Some are so frustrated with the people that they want to quit and let the people deal with the problem themselves, but they don’t quit. They know that there are people out there that respect them and that is enough to keep them in their job.
I had problems getting to post on Blogger so Fardosa let me post on her account. Thanks!
