Social Media Consequences        

     In recent years social media has been blowing up in the teenage/young adult demographic.Social media is a series of different sites where you can interact with people you may or may not know threw the internet.This includes facebook,twitter,and more recent instagram. Instagram is a newly found social media site where you can post pictures and videos with your followers. Instagram has been discovered by many people from regular everyday teenagers to big time celebrities. These days on social media people like to post whatever they feel.They do this because they know nobody can do anything about it.But some people are going way too far. About 3 months ago a girl lets call her ‘’Sarah’’ posted a very inappropriate picture of herself on instagram. In the picture Sarah was wearing a very provocative outfit that wasn’t age appropraite. But it wasn’t the first time posted something inappropriate.One time she shared a picture of herself and friends smoking weed or cigaretts. There is no logical explanation for why people do these sorts of things.It has been said from multiple sources and instagram users that people do this for attention.Or better known as getting likes on a picture.For example Sarah joined instagram around late 2012.She has a lot of followers and usually gets around 60 something likes per picture. But when Sarah  posted a very inappropriate/half naked pictures of herself she started getting about 200 like per picture. Comments on the inappropriate picture got a lot of mixed emotions by her followers. Some people really enjoyed it writing ‘’looking good girl’’.While a lot of other  people were not happy writing ‘’you need to stop’’ or ‘’you’re only in high school.’’ After this controversy the photos were taken down from Sarah’s instagram. Overall , girls in general shouldn’t put themselves out there online because it could result in some serious consequences.
