The Basketball Game

The school seemed big like castles you see in movies, as Donald, a 7th grader at Premier Charter School, walked towards it for his teams first basketball game of the season. As he got tickets for his dad and friend, he walked towards to gym as my dad wished me luck. The noise started to become louder and louder as he opened the door. He ran over to his coach, Mr Strickler. “You ready for your first game Donald?” He asked. “ I’m a hundred percent ready!” He replied. Both had a laugh as the buzzer ranged. He made his way towards the bench as thrill and excitement rolled through his body as his first game was about to go down. As he was chatting with his friends, he was interrupted by his coach. “Get in the game!” substitution came as he walked onto the court. “RING!” The buzzer ranged. The game turned out terrible. He did not score at all. He passed it most of the time. Even when he tried to run into the paint, there were at least two enormous “brick walls” in his path which stopped him from scoring. We were tired. A teammate, Mr Robbie Owens, ran into the paint open, but missed the open layup. As the final buzzer ranged, we got up and said our good jobs to the other team. We lost to a disappointing 36-8. Even though we lost, coach always said we did great. I thought so too, and like my teammates would say, “we always have next game.”
