Donald Speech

Games is what I play everyday after school. Games are special but not just because it’s addicting and entertaining. Most games teaches you about things. For example, working together, spending time, and more. Also they can learn things you can learn from outside of school. So, most intelligent students plays violent games and some games can  teach  us about collaboration, rewarding/hard-working, and time.
The reason why I think games can teach you about something is, because it can show you how life is in the real-world. For example in  the role-playing game “Killer”, it teaches us about collaboration is because this is a team game. You really can’t win if you work together, and in the article “High-Jinks Shoot-Out” (2009) by Guy Martin , it showed how they had worked together in the game “Killer”  to “kill” someone. In the article, it said “ .. on a Wednesday, three of the four seniors, armed with Walgreens- issue water pistols, stalked out Cohen’s house in a blue Toyota minivan. The idea was to use a cell phone to call the Cohen’s landline, posing as Cohen’s teammate Dominic, using Dominic’s caller ID. The call had been engineered from a remote computer by a squad member with prodigious hacking skills.” (Page 1, paragraph 5) The article portrays the teammates work together to do something. They work together, use each other skills wisely and get the mission done. This is how this use collaboration in the article.

Also, another reason why I think “Killer”  teaches us about real world things is because in the article it showed how they had worked really hard and got rewarded for that. In the article “High-Jinks Shoot-out” (2009) by Guy Martin, it says, “ Meanwhile Jack Protell and his squad mowed through the entire teams, racking up thirteen kills in four days. . . In the end the Protell-Lowther team won.. They celebrated with a spaghetti dinner.” (Page 2 ,Paragraph 7 & 8) So it indicates that if you work hard enough where you carry your team to victory, you deserve a reward, and since they won, the pot was 300$. This shows how they work hard and get rewarded

Meanwhile, a reason why I think violent video games are good, is because it wasted their time - which is good. This states that  it wastes criminal’s time from committing crime, and they start playing more violent video games. In the article “Violent video games may stop crime by keeping criminals busy playing violent video games” (2013) by Evan Dashevsky,  it says “  According to Levitt, potential criminals aren't committing crimes because they are spending so much time playing violent video games. “ (paragraph 4) So this proves that, instead of them going out and doing bad things, this can really waste their time up for them to able not to do crimes.

But in defence, in the article “ Do games like grand theft auto V cause real world violence” (2013) by Eric Kain, it says “ In fact, numerous studies have been conducted and the results are mixed. Some studies have shown that video games increase aggression” . This shows they might let their anger out on parents, or maybe the community, but at least it lowers the crime rate. This stops them from doing a lot of bad things like robbing and doing drugs. (page 1, paragraph 5 under Blame Game)

So to conclude, video games can be violent, but it teaches violent, stunned kids about things and keeps them busy. Kids today can learn from video games/ role-playing games how to use each other skills and collaborate, learn to work hard  and in the end get rewarded for what you accomplished, and to waste time while doing it. It keeps these paralyzed kids busy doing what they love instead of violence. These unpredictable, clever kids can be violent, but it takes one thing to keep them numb. I leave this my audience showing Kids might do bad stuff, but these activities  is what they enjoy playing. If we stop them from doing what they love, that might change their mood. Im a teenager, and I too believe that video games can release all your anger out, and therefore teach you a couple of things.  Maybe it can teach the kids something they can use in the real world. Think about it now….. Do you think violent video games / role playing games distract the kids, or does it just represent a bad influence for them?
