On March 2nd, 2015 I remember I was really frustrated with my sister and I couldn’t physically hurt her so,I decided to turn on my PS4 , put my Gta 5 disk in, and shoot a random girl on the street. In my mind I was imagining that the random girl was my sister. After playing Gta I realized I was no longer frustrated. I think kids should be allowed to play aggressive video games for multiple reasons.
Violent games allow kids to express their frustrations and stress. According to Entertainment Software”About games and violence (2015) Violent crime, particularly among the young, has decreased dramatically since the early 1990s. During the same period of time, video games have steadily increased in popularity and use, exactly the opposite of what one would expect if there were a causal link.” (2014,pg.1) this shows that since violent games were invented violent crimes especially for teens between the ages 10-19 have decreased. Instead of fighting they would rather hop on a video game and hurt someone virtually. The things you’re allowed to do when playing video games, you don’t get consequences for. On the other hand in reality you would get in huge trouble for the crime.
Video games entertain criminals. According to Tech Hive The Game Room “According to the economist Steve Levitt, the most interesting take-away hidden in the numbers is that violent video games may have directly contributed to the decrease in real-world violence. According to Levitt, potential criminals aren't committing crimes because they are spending so much time playing violent video games.”(Dashevsky,2015 paragraph 3) . This shows that violent video games keep criminals occupied. Steve Levitt is a credible source because he is an economist and economist are experts in economics.
Some research has shown that video games can damage the human brain, but others have found playing video games can actually be helpful.
