Violent or Not

Kids all over the world are playing at least one type of video games system. About 90 percent of U.S. kids from ages 8 to 16 play video games. (yahoo! News, 2011).Video games can lead to violence, becoming overweight, motion sickness migraines, sleep disturbances, backaches, eating irregularities, and poor personal hygiene.

Everyday, young men and women across the world are spending hours killing, maiming, and engaging in all manner of violent antisocial behavior—virtually.(ESA, 2014).  ….violent video games have been shown to increase kids' aggressive behavior. (KIDS HEALTH, (June 2014).Video games can lead to becoming overweight. “Sometimes, though, video games cause more health troubles than benefits. “People who spend too much time sitting while playing video games don't get enough exercise. Lack of exercise can play a role in many health problems, including becoming overweight or obese.” (KIDS HEALTH, 2014).
Video game can not lead to violence. Studies show that certain types of video games may improve hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills, and the mind's ability to process information. (KIDS HEALTH, 2014). Also in “...Violent crime, particularly among the young, has decreased dramatically since the early 1990s.”(ESA, 2014).
“Playing to much video game can lead to motion sickness which is called “….simulator sickness….. simulator sickness was first noticed in people using driving or flying simulators. Doctors aren't sure exactly why video games cause motion sickness. They think it might have to do with mismatched messages about movement that the brain gets from the eyes and inner ears. Liquid in the semicircular canals of your inner ear allows you to sense if you're moving. But the brain can get confused if your inner ear senses that you're sitting still while your eyes see the action on the screen and tell the brain you're moving. That may leave you feeling sick, dizzy, or drowsy.” (TEENS HEALTH, February 2013). . Video games can cause migraines.“Migraine headaches typically start in one spot and slowly spread, getting more painful as they progress. In severe cases, the pain can be so extreme that it causes the sufferer to vomit. Light and noise can cause excruciating pain. Someone who plays video games for extended periods of time is more prone to migraines because of the intense concentration required and the strain put on the eyes.” Video game can cause sleep disturbance.”The term "sleep disturbances" covers several sleep-related disorders, including insomnia, narcolepsy, sleep apnea, nocturnal myoclonus (periodic leg or arms jerks during sleep), and parasomnia (i.e., night terrors, sleepwalking or talking, and nightmares). Sleep disturbances are caused, in part, by overstimulation of the brain. However, some people can't get a good night's sleep simply because they think obsessively about the game they're playing.” Video game can cause backaches. “Backaches are a common physical symptom of gaming addiction because most gamers stay seated in the same position for hours on end. The lack of movement causes stiffness and soreness, but could deteriorate into chronic back problems.”Last, video game can cause personal hygiene problems. “An addicted gamer is not going to take the time to properly care for himself or herself. Showers, face-washing, and brushing hair and teeth all get put on the back burner. It simply becomes less of a priority…”

In conclusion, if you want to play video game, then try to play for a certain amount of hours, so you have time to care for yourself, get exercise, and also so that you won’t have any minor injuries.
