The small smoke puffs from nextdoor told this reporter what was going on. When he stepped outside and smelled the smoke from a cigarette he went to investigate. There was nobody in sight, yet the puffs were still going. He found the source of the puffs of smoke behind a car in the street. It was a 10 year old boy smoking a cigarette butt off of the ground! When he confronted the kid about it, the first words out of his mouth were “ You want a smoke?” . The reporter was dumbfounded and couldn’t think of anything to say. Then, he had a plan. The reporter finally replied with a, “ Sure, I’ll have a puff.” and once the kid gave him the cigarette, he went to his door and knocked. The child’s mother came out and asked, “ What do you want?” the reporter replied with, “ Ma’am your son was smoking this cigarette butt off of the ground over here.” then came that one word a parent should never say in a situation like this, “ So?” . This woman who birthed this child didn’t care. That's like giving your kid a box of insta-cancer and saying, “ Eat up!” . Its horrible, and this reporter felt like he could do nothing to help the matter. Unfortunately this was not the end. The child then went on to steal 2 games and a controller from the reporter’s home. The child then, when caught, threatened the reporter’s family. This child was a menace to this neighborhood, but thankfully, is now gone from the neighborhood.
