Bullying by Kara Gossage

The wind was blowing, the air was cold, the kids were playing, and the teachers were talking. A student walks up the stairs to talk to Kara, when he turns around to find a group of mean looking students following behind. They started talking, and yelling, and throwing insults at him. The wind became more wild, and heavy every second. Kara looked around, to find his facial expression getting more aggressive and tense. He looked confused and upset at the same time. His eyes swelled up as if he was going to cry or if he was going to start going crazy. The writer couldn’t figure out what he was feeling or what he was going to do.
The students step closer, and then walk toward Kara. They got in her face, and gave her a dirty look. “Can you not talk to him? He’s so weird, and annoying. Ew, why do you hang out with him? He’s socially awkward. Just looking at him makes me sick.” One of the tall, mean looking kid said. Then, a short, stocky girl says “Oh, it’s because you guys are dating, and, if not… well, then I guess you just hang out with him because you have no one else around?” His face gets white as a ghost and it looks as if he might get sick. Maybe because he thinks that’s the only reason people hang out with him, because they have no one else.. but that’s not the truth.
After that, Kara tells them to be quiet, and to back off. They eventually realized that he might not have said anything, but Kara will. They walked away with disgusted and dirty looks on their face. The bell rings, and the teachers blow their whistles. Students line up and I have him get in front of the writer. Kara and the student walk into the 8th Grade Pod, and he looks at Kara with a big grin and walks to his locker. He finally saw that someone had actually stood up for him. It made his day, and a week after that, he was still happy. He and the writer became best friends. Maybe now they’ve learned that picking on someone is NOT the right thing to do and that it should stop.
