Middle Aged Kids and Under Get Mugged and Encounter a Kidnapping Attempt

Kidnappings, muggings, and jumpings have become common problems teens and little kids face while walking to their destinations. It’s become so common that kids can’t even walk from school to a local YMCA that’s just down the street.

Just last winter, 23 year old, Ellis Marshall, was walking home from work on a cold december night when suddenly he was jumped. He was walking down the street on the sidewalk with his hands in his pocket to stay warm, when two males come up from behind him and said “ We have a gun.” He stood there letting them take his bag when he realized that the two males didn’t have any weapons so he decided to fight back. As the fight began 2 againsts 1 Ellis was at a disadvantage and with that he lost favorite coat and his phone. He also ended up with a busted lip. This is just like when Ponyboy got jumped by the Socs walking home from the movies in “ The Outsiders”. Even in books they show how dangerous it has become to just be walking home from the movies or even from work.

Also during the summer, 13 year old Mikayla Morgan, was stuck in a kidnapping attempt. It was around 8:00 in the morning when Mikayla went outside to some water balloons from the store down her street. When she walked out she noticed a male staring at her while she was walking back home. He then asked her “ Do you need a ride ?” Mikayla said no but he kept asking. All of the sudden like superwoman her aunt came and said ‘ She don’t want a ride. You heard her no get on somewhere.” he turned around and walked off. Mikayla was lucky, unlike most kids when they encounter a may or may not be kidnapping attempt.

These actions have cost many lives and it needs to stop. Each day a child is kidnapped or has an encounter and people are getting mugged and jumped more and more often. This issue needs to be addressed in order for children and people of all ages to walk down the street and not be scared of something happening to them. What will you do to make the streets safer?

  1. This is so true. I was at a burger king one time and a man came up to me asking how my day was and for my name. When he asked for my name the staff and my mother stepped in and he walked out in shame. I have never went inside that burger king since.
