On Monday, September 29, 2014 in the morning at around 8:30, a red and blue flash of light caught Lorena Ceno’s (8th grade student) eyes. Across from her house, there was a police car and an ordinary car pulled over. The police came out of his car and said, “ Ma’am, do you know how fast you were driving?”. The lady answered in a low, shy voice, “ No, sorry officer,” and he handed her a black and white ticket.
As Lorena Ceno was going to school, she saw two more police cars around the St.Louis, Missouri area. This is an issue for many because people make a small mistake while driving and get a ticket. All of the police officers should be capturing criminals that actually commit a big crime, than waste their time trying to find someone to give a speeding or stop sign ticket to. Police are required to have a certain amount of tickets made in a period of time, so thats why they are giving more tickets away. There are many police officers looking for people to give tickets to when they could be stopping an actual crime. Be careful citizens of St.Louis, Missouri, you will be getting a ticket next.

ReplyDeleteSo true! Police should stop pulling people over when they can go after bigger crimes. However, we'd have lots more accidents because that means that no one would pay attention to how fast they're driving! That wouldn't help. Great Job, though!
Yes, but it is their job to do that! They HAVE to pull people over that are breaking the law! If they don't they're breaking the law. Maybe try some research before you just say stuff. Be grateful that we even have people that are here to protect us instead of criticizing them!
DeleteI have been seeing a lot of police officers around lately too! There has been a lot around my house and even school(maybe because the department is right down the street). Do you think it may be because of what happened/ is happening in Ferguson?
DeleteIt is true somewhat but it wouldn't help people on the roads well being because the truth cops are paid to do it they may not like it but they have to. So its not only about your well being but others well being and safety. Other than that it was a good newscast. But don't hate appreciate they are keeping maybe your other family members safe
ReplyDeleteSo true! Don't just think something automatically about police. There may be a side of the story you don't see or haven't even heard because when reality strikes, you've probably only have heard one fourth of what's actually going on
DeleteThe police don't have to be here. They all could just walk out of their job and leave us. They leave their families every day having the risk of them not coming back at all. Don't hate on cops cause they do something you don;t like, appreciate cops because they are risking their life in order to keep us safe!
DeleteI disagree, what i mean is that they are giving tickets to people for example, they stop at a stop sign but they get a $50 ticket because not all the wheels "stopped". This is not a crime. And this is a true story because it happened to my mom.
DeleteEven if you are going very slow to stop, you could still hit someone and injure them and it'll be your fault
DeleteI agree because there is so much going on in our city and I don't think police officers should be wasting their time on small reasons. However, if somebody was going super fast and not right over the speed limit I would understand why they got a ticket. Overall, I get your point & I agree based on the circumstance. You did a good job expressing your feelings!
