All around the internet world, many come across social media posts that are all about things such as breakups ,boy issues, boy hatred, suicide due to depression because of boy problems, breakups...etc. People who own social media accounts use them for different reasons. Accounts such as facebook, instagram, twitter ,and even snapchat. But do they realize the other peoples thoughts to these posts?
On facebook people tend to put more posts that are quotes or setouts towards their personal life. “ My life is over…” , “ He wasn’t a real (explicit language)...” , “ These boys aint loyal…”. All these quotes/captions are related to their personal relationship life. On twitter its the same. People put the longest paragraphs about the struggles they are going through with their relationships, and post almost every single minute, hour, second of the day about their issues. They don’t realize that these quotes are causing the viewers to have thoughts that their post make them sound desperate, or maybe even obsessed towards a certain boy.
On instagram and snapchat its almost the same but contains more content. People post these quotes/captions with images towards their feelings. Memes that are about depressing moments, images of black screens with captions about a ending of life, or just images of people themselves with a blank look of no expression.
These posters dont realize that the attention they seem to seek or are getting without realizing isn’t the attention they want/need. It causes the people around them to get annoyed angry, and even concerned. Many of the viewers post comments that express their feelings. Comments such as “ Get over it…” , “ Don't trip…” , “It doesn't matter he’s just a boy…”. Sometimes these comments are a little more negative , “Your being stupid/You’re stupid for this…” , “Why are you making such a big deal over something so stupid, get over it, it happens…” . These are the comments that lead to a more suicidal post. But then there are the more supporting/helpful quotes that seem to usually be from closer friends or maybe even family. “ It’s ok dont let him get to you…”, “ Things will get better…” , “Im here for you…” . But these quotes dont help for a lot of these users because they keep posting the same things over and over ! It is compared to the water cycle. A never ending cycle.
It has come to be that social media is not the same. It used to be for fun, to interact with others, friends around. Facebook, instagram, snapchat, you name it, are all now used for suicidal posts, and more depressing life tragedies. Us as a society, community, worl, need to come together and work to let these users know… posts about their life do not solve their problems, but make it worse.
