The Bad News For Eighth Grade

Wednesday, September seventeenth, students grow furious with their school. Kenneth Doyle (administration of Premier Charter School) walked in to Ms.Crain’s Language Arts class to tell everyone the horrible news. “This years graduation ceremony and traditional trip to Six Flags would be cancelled,” Doyle announces. What was their reason for cancelling something so important? The answer is budget cuts. Due to a bad storm that occurred earlier and damaged the air conditioning system, the school lost a lot of money. Students try to understand, but are too upset. The voices rise, hands fly up, and ideas are shouted. You can see the fury and concern  in the eyes of the teenagers. Ms.Crain and Mr.Doyle attempt at calming them down, but see it’s no use. Nothing will help the anger subside.

Students are willing to do anything to get their full eighth grade experience.  “We can start a fundraiser,” one student suggests, but Doyle tells them they can't because it would interfere with elementary students’ fundraisers. “Cut the D.C. trip,” another student insists. “ Students pay for that individually, it's not something we can just cancel,” Doyle replies. Students fall silent. Doyle shakes his head slowly and says with a sympathetic look, “Sorry guys.” He turns around and walks out the door to tell the other classes, keeping his head hung low. Students are left with their spirit crushed and the rest of their year ruined.
