Violent games tend to be detrimental to children more than ever these days. It is noted that
some experts say the violent games are part of the reason young people become violent or commit
extreme antisocial behavior. Violent games should be decreased or more restricted.
Violent games should be more restricted because not everyone knows the difference between
fiction and reality. There is many reasons for this; such as untreated mental illnesses. I personally think
that these violent games come from people that enjoy gore and torture, just like in movies, then decided
that they wanted to try to see if the same effect was made was made if they were actually making the
torture and gore happen without actually doing it.
Kids these days that are not being as restricted to their video games are getting a higher
aggression mentally and physically. These games can send out messages that are most of the time
incorporated the wrong way. This would be the opposite of teaching the minors strategic advantages.
Once the kids get to distracted by the violent games it becomes often that fantasy and reality gets mixed
up. On these games there is inappropriate language being used that they are catching on to. If my child
were to start using such language I would want him/her to be surrounded by the better of games not the
more destructive ones.
If you haven’t noticed that there are bad effects on violent games. Some worse than others in
situations. For example, “The issue is especially relevant today, because the games are more realistic
and bloodier than ever…”(Carey, 2013). This proves that more recently the more violent games are
starting to become more relevant to todays actions. “Many similar studies have found the same thing: A
dose of violent gaming makes people act a little more rudely than they would otherwise, at least for a
few minutes after playing.” (Carey, 2013). This is basically saying that it has been proven in many

different studies that the longer you play a violent video game the more aggressive and temperamental
you become.
On the other hand, the percent of violence has decreased fiercely since the early 1990’s; around
the same time violent games popularity began to increase fiercely. It was proven that in many of the
largest video game producers all across the world have seen no correlation when it comes to comparing
game consumption and gun-related deaths. Recently most of the current game consoles are able to have
certain restrictions put on them.
To conclude, video games do make people more violent as they play for longer periods of time.
