How much fun is too much fun? Teenagers in St.Ann’s high school have a yearly water pistol ambush to celebrate ending the year. Teenagers should be able to play this unrealistic game to say hello summer and goodbye school! In this school, fun is their number one priority for the teens so that they can get them hyped up to leave for summer.I think teens should be able to have fun without all of this controversy.
What these teens are doing is harmless fun, In this quote it shows how devoted this teen is to the game they are playing. “protell, now a junior, recalled, as he paced pierrepont street, three water guns shoved inside the pocket of a hoodie.”(Martin,2009 pg.1) He wants and chooses to run around finding opponents to shoot out of the game because, he knows it’s not going to hurt a single soul with is water guns.
These St.Ann’s kids are basically have a fun time hiding out anywhere most effective for them. For example, “In the late innings of killer season, some kids occasionally sleep in the deeper recesses of St.Ann’s itself. The game’s valedictory message is built onto its architecture:school is the safe ground. And, keen as the graduating seniors may be to leave, the game tells them that the world outside is not.” (Martin,2009 pg.2)School is the safe ground where no shooting is allowed and most kids will try to hide out there but most times it doesn’t work. This is mostly why cars and hanging out over at a team members house is pretty effective if you have a helping hand.
Teens can have fun too can't they? These games are harmless to lives, and the long term effects may only influence some people maybe not any if the have the right mindset. Video games in my view were always violent and that younger kids who played them would get the wrong idea about life and won't know right from wrong. Now i see that they are just games that kids play on their free time and maybe some kids play to get out their frustration or just to play.
