Position Paper Speech Outline
by:Evie Marshall

“We got him! We got him!” Is most likely what the assassins would scream when they have accomplished the kill. In several New York High schools students have become apart of the High School Killer Assassination Game. The game in which kids ambush each other with water pistols has become common for the high school's end of the year ritual. A two and a half week game which involves feriousiness. This game is not dangerous or in fact hazardous, it’s strictly for fun and should continue.

The game isn't only fun, but the it teaches the kids the valuable skill of respect and leadership. For example the students have a leader and someone who can keep everyone in check. “I’m looking for some good massacres early,” this years judge said as the competition began, the second week in May.(Summing what his class referred to as his “inner lawyer”. . . “  This is a positive impact on the players because the game teaches some kids how to lead a big group. The game helps kids show leadership and teaches them to respect and follow the rules of the game, therefore the kids playing this game is anything but harmful.

Though the game teaches great life skills it also gives kids the wrong impression. The high schoolers have develop the skills of hacking and some what “stalking”.  The scholars hacked into another kids’ phone to get in touch with a target.  While their skills are very impressive  it can lead to much more than a game kill. Kids could get a kick out of their skills and use it for bad things. If their skills intentions change then that means many people could be in danger, so this game is really bad for those students.

Strategy is important in life which everyone needs, so why take away a game that does just that. The game gives the kids a chance to think through and plan out attack. Having them do this builds their strategy skills. “ In 2007 ,Jake Protell, a freshman, distinguished himself by fretting out the itinerary of a field trip that two targets were taking to Tel Aviv. Protell . . . dispatched them using two bathtub “squirt fish”.” This shows strategy because Protell knew that bringing a gun into an airport or even a water gun would cause trouble. This proves my claim because if Protell didn't have a strategy then he would've gotten in trouble with security at the airport. Having strategy is a mandatory skill in life that everyone needs.

The high school ritual game is great for kids because of the skills it teaches them. Some may think otherwise that it relates to violence though really that depends on the kids mind span not the game. If you ever have played a violent game the immediate response would be “ cool blood”and keep playing, or  some just wouldn't care. You don't get the reaction of “I want to see it in real life. There are many reasons why kids become violent, but this game isn't one.
