Children should not be able to play violent games,because the games can cause later problems. One reason for this is because they do stalker like acts. I know this because in the article it states that the students would locate their targets homes and if there was no sign of them leaving the house they would sleep in their parents cars “Since the game started, the twelfth graders had been sleeping on futons in a couple of vans borrowed from their parents, the better to pull off a stoop-side ambush and avoid being ambushed themselves,”Hijinks shoot out( paragraph 3 sentence 5). Also they would hack into the targets phones and change caller i.d’s so that they will know where and what the target was doing.
Another reason why they should not be playing these games is because it provokes violence. This provokes violence because the students carry their water gun as if they were real guns with them everywhere they go just in case. So if the water guns look real enough and the police or a bystander see it then they could get into serious trouble.
Many think that this game is just a game and I understand why. The parents know about the game and what it entails. Also since the school is a safe area the students are able to focus on their school while still playing. But the parents may not realize the effects of the game on students an example of this is if the gun looks real enough and the cops see it then they could get into trouble.Also if the students worry too much about the game and less about the grades they could go from an A to D .That is why they shouldn't play these games. So in the end even though the game sounds fun and may be fun it still should not be played because of the dangers later in life like real gun violence and or becoming a possible stalker. And it takes away from the students valuable time working on academics.
Violent video games should not be allowed because there is always that possibility that someone who plays these games will actually be in the mindset to do mass shootings and or mass killings in general. This is because they see it on the video game after playing for hours upon hours they think that it's ok to take these violent games to heart and make the actions from the game become real causing the loss of lives and many injuries due to the way that the people think.
Another reason these are bad is because instead of people committing sex crimes on the computer they turn and do it off the computer because instead of using a certain button they are committing a crime that could get them in trouble with the cops and it would all be because they saw it on a video game and though that it was ok.
There is also an increase in violence, because games such as Grand theft auto promote shooting, fighting, drug dealing etc. So when people play these games especially young adults they begin to think that what's happening in the games is ok to do outside of the game with no consequences or after effects. But in reality there are going to be consequences and these games are not okay. Also these games influence people because of how many hours a day they play these games so thats all they think about is the missions that they have to get back to as well as the time it takes away from face to face socialization.
I understand why some people may think that these games are ok because it does give them the advantage of being able to make strategies. Also it gives them a chance to converse with people from around the world this is helpful because you meet friends and understand the culture of other people. But there are things that are wrong with conversing with random people,an example is they could be a legal adult when you could be a minor so if you decide “ Hey I like these people we should be friends and I want to meet them,” things could very wrong and it puts you in serious dangers depending on the intentions of the person. Gender plays a large role in that as well because if you are a young girl and they are an older male their intentions could be very different from yours.
So in conclusion there are very serious issues with violent games and the effects of playing them. There are also many benefits but when you stop and take time realize that these games can be very dangerous if not played with caution. I agree they can be very fun but if played excessively they can be very dangerous to the future of the child or person playing.
