On September 17 during second block, 8th grade students of Ms. Crain’s class at Premier Charter School got the surprise of their life. A normal class was in session when a disappointed administrator came in and apparently had bad news. He then said, “due to budget cuts, we will not be having a graduation or go to Six Flags this year. We don’t have the money to rent out the building for the graduation or to rent the buses for the field trip,” this is all the students heard. All around there were grieving faces as well as confused and steaming red faces. One student questioned, “Are you going to do this next year?” and the administrator responded with, “It would depend because things could change. Next year we may not have such a tight budget.” The class was outraged. They claimed that it wasn’t fair, while some students just looked like they wanted to walk out of the classroom. Some students wanted to know why they couldn’t just have the graduation in the courtyard or even the cafeteria. the administrator stated, “It may be really hot that day and you are going to be all dressed up. We can’t do it in the cafeteria because of the safety hazard. We can only have so many people in the cafeteria because of the occupancy limit.” He answered a few more questions then left to spread the news to the students of Grace Malley’s class. The students looked at their teacher then heard, “Now you have a topic to write about!” then the students knew that it was all a joke.
I like how you used voice and expresssion the newscast
ReplyDeletei like how you used detail and made the reader interested and made it feel like we was actually there to witness this big news, i also liked your ending was very clever to trick the readers thinking it was real
ReplyDeleteBut also you should have done a unique topic because then the newscast would have been just your own and not anyone elses.
