A Jam in Time

Waking up early could not have helped you the morning or September 24th. As the people who rushed to work, or to take their kids to school, should’ve chose an alternative route then highway 44. At around 8:20 in the morning, there was a huge traffic jam.

Not even 5 minutes of people being on the highway, and everyone was herd together like cattle, all in a bunch. There was 5 or 6 second periods where a car would move up, but only by about 5 feet. Left, right, front, or back, there were cars lined up bumper to bumper. After about 15-20 minutes, people finally started realizing the problem of the traffic jam.

In the far right lane,a police car was parked in the middle of the lane. Next to the car, a  police officer, wearing a mandatory yellow vest(required for all police officers to wear during a traffic accident). The officer was taking notes on a paper attached to a clipboard. In front of him, a couple of feet down, another police officer was off to the side, talking to a man. There was a car on the grassy, steep hill behind the two men. The black, little car had concaved indents on the left side, that looked like another car rammed into it. The front of the car, the hood, was open, and crinkled up like a crushed soda can.

The man, although looking distraught, seemed to be fine, with no injuries. A citizen stuck in the traffic, James Yim(who also works for the St.Louis Police Department), claimed,” The car must have rolled over.” Despite the long wait, and people who might have been late for something, the traffic finally passed the accident, and everything was finally back to normal again. So remember, always be ready for anything, because there can always be a jam in time.
