Teachers Ignoring Students

There was recently a student who complained about teachers ignoring students at Premier Charter School. Teachers are supposed to answer students questions, and make sure they aren’t confused. But are the teachers doing their job?

When teachers ignore students it can get really annoying and frustrating. Khalisha Williams an 8th grade student who attends Premier Charter School says,” How are students supposed to learn if the teacher is ignoring us,” she says, “are they doing this on purpose so we can figure the question out ourselves, or what?” She asks. If someone raised their hand and the the teacher just walks past or looks at them then then they’re going to get mad because they’re going to feel like the teacher just doesn’t care. Khalisha said that her teacher last year used to ignore her a lot. She said that she would be talking and he would just look away or she would have her hand up and he’d just walk right past her. She says it would feel like she’s invisible when her teacher ignores her. It was just another regular day in class for Khalisha last year at PCS, students were writing, others staring off in space, and some just had a blank face on like they didn’t know what was going on. Khalisha raised her hand and patiently waited for the teacher to answer her question. As she waited her patience began to decrease, and she noticed the teacher was not coming. He looked at her and even walked passed her but still did not answer her question. She began to get furious and decided to just put her hand down. Instead of wasting the class period she just had to do what she could. She knew that she would have to ask her teacher the question later.

Teachers need to be answering students questions and NOT ignoring them, it makes them feel invisible and like teachers don’t care. Don’t leave students hanging when they have a question, help them. Teachers are here for a reason, so please stop ignoring students.
