Thoughts on violent videogames

Robbie Owens

Some people believe that videogames are responsible for violent actions.i think that video games that are violent do not actually affect the person i think that the person is responsible not  the game because the game is a work of fiction and should not be taken seriously. One piece of evidence is most kids play video games including me and it's such a large business so if violent video games really did have an effect like some articles state then most people would be crazy aggressive people. In fact a lot of studies prove that there is no casual or direct link in video games and violence because as game sales have increased violence has decreased. Some people and articles would argue that many kids become violent due to thier parents not knowing what game they buy thier child or not monitizing thier children. But this claim is not proven common in studies as 91% percent of the time a parent is present when a game is purchased and 95% of the time parents are monitering thier kids when they play games and their are esrb ratings on games to inform parents on the content of the games they or their kids kids purchase.

Instead studies show that the real link between violent crime is trait aggression, family violence, and gender had more direct links to violence than video games. In fact,it has been shown that the more violent videogame sales increase the more violent crime waves decrease. This proves that videogames are not the cause of crimes but you could say videogames prevent crime in a way by keeping would be criminals busy playing videogames.

To sum up  multiple sources have evidence to prove that games do not have a link and is not responsible for violent behavior and all the evidence above proves that videogames are not responsible for the actions of  people.
