Have you ever played a video game that was involved in killing someone such as Call of Duty, Battlefield , Left 4 Dead etc.? Well there's a game that is played at the end of the school year at a high school in New York City. The agenda of this game is to shoot your opponent with a water gun. Some people thinks its a fun thing to do for the end of the year, for a celebration. Some people think otherwise , and that it might just give the young adults the wrong impression that “shooting people” is okay.
However, I think it’s not harmful for teens to play games that allow of shooting, because in an article called “Violent video games may stop crime by keeping criminals busy playing violent video games” it states that “ While a one percent increase in the violent games is associated with up to 0.03% decrease in violent crimes” (Evan 2013). This explains that by playing violent games keep them out of the real world killing people.
The crime rate in the US has sharply decreased as video games have continually upped the violent factor. This keeps criminals busy by playing “violent” games. “if young men-those who are most likely to commit violent acts are kept busy in front of their tv’s computers for hours on end, they will be too busy to go out into the streets and do real violent things”(Evan 2013). Therefore playing violent games might be positive for the world.
While some people might argue that playing violent games will not make the world a positive place. Some people believe that by playing violent games will influence teens to do violent things , and there will be more crimes happening because of what type of game teens play. But they fail to realize that statistics show that the more violent games get the less crimes happen.
Playing violent games are not harmful for teens. We live in a world now that has worst things happening or had happened such as September 11th , Hurricane Sandy , ferguson , and Baltimore. If you still have a problem with teens playing violent games just realize that by the teens playing these games its actually decreasing crime out in the real world.
